After much research, architect and designer Anna Lotova set out to create a workspace for the home that was both pleasurable to work at but also functional. During the research phase, Lotova discovered that people often found typical desks boring, uncomfortable, and cluttered, so her solution – the OXYMORON desk.
The desk combines two materials that work together to form a brilliant idea – alcantara cloth/foam and plywood. Two layers of foam are covered with alcantara cloth and are sandwiched between plywood sheets to form a space to store papers, objects, or technical equipment.
The back of the desk gets the same treatment with multiple layers of covered foam to hold pens and pencils, books, or even a lamp. The padded spaces provide storage to help keep your desktop clear.
Insert magazines or books along the sides to reach later.
If your hands get cold, slip them between the foam part to warm them up.
Sleepy? Put your head down and take a nap.
