When I was little I used to pop the heads off of my Barbies. I also used to cut their hair short and give them mustaches, but that’s a whole other story… Margaux Lange also decapitates (and dismembers) Barbies, but she uses the doll parts to create surprisingly beautiful and artistic jewelry.
I think I like these partially because they make me feel a bit nostalgic for the time when I played with the blonde icon. The other part of my finds them creepily fantastic in both execution and sentiment.

I think they’re cool and very clever and simultaneously disturbing. It’s hard not to read a statement about the mass production of an airbrushed beauty ideal in her creations, where one set of lips/hands/breast becomes indistinguishable and interchangeable for any other . . . The only one that seems “aw, sweet” rather than “whoa, that’s a little worrisome” is the kiss one.

I can understand that, the only one that I believe isn’t borderline creepy (although very neat and unique) are the shoe rings. I actually think thats a cute idea typing you back to your childhood

Love them! Very beautiful, creative and disturbing. I am biased though…I also took the heads off my Barbies, drew on them, cut their hair, etc. I would love to buy a piece.
