Now in its 5th year, Design Event 09 is the [UK] North East’s Annual Design Festival celebrating product, graphics, illustration, and architecture from the region.

Design Event 09 will be showcasing the very best design talent of the UK North East. The event will take place at various venues across three city regions – Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne, over 10 days.

This year the theme of “Politics and Play” link the diverse program of events that cover all disciplines of design including exhibitions, installations, selling events and a number of design talks.

One of the highlights is Design Event MART, a curated selling exhibition of work, being held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art from October 16-18, 2009. Featuring 13 of the region’s leading design talent, the MART has a mix of established local designers and design graduates from the University final degree.
