STUDIOLAV‘s project Design is Dead is an homage to the designer’s tool from days of old, a tool that is slowly being replaced by computer software and tablets.
“The pencil has become redundant and widely replaced by software and other computer based tools that form the main mediums for designers to express ideas on every stage of the design process.” Now you can “bury” the beloved pencil in your pencil cup “graveyard.”

The pencil will never die. There is no better way to get ideas out on paper quickly and with emotion.

I feel the pencil is neglected and should be relied upon more. I personally use a wacom intuos 4 tablet and sadly find that my drawing skills stopped developing after using programs with a mouse for such a long period of time. Maybe I personally just don’t like the hear that pencil is going “extinct”, I feel there is a need for a solid base to creating our ideas. Or maybe future generations will learn to adapt and visualize their concepts with the abilitity to illustrate them directly to the computer screen.
