Konrad explains his design of the Jack Kerouac quote “Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion.”:
I first started to draw some nice type but I quickly remembered who Kerouac and his friends were, what they did and what they represented. I realized that this quote reflects the whole work of Jack Kerouac and the Beat Generation and I wanted to get closer to his thoughts by, somehow mimicking his way of working (or the way I imagined it) which seemed to fit perfectly with the message of the quote. I tried to draw my type in an instinctive way, away of what I usually see or what you would expect from a conventional typeface.
The background is a picture taken with an old Myu2 in the tunnels of Barcelona’s underground system. I wanted to keep the background on the background without interfering with the type, and the picture being a bit different from what a “normal” picture should look like.
