Candice Olson is an interior designer with her own furniture collection, amazing TV show host for Divine Design, and judge on HGTV’s Design Star. I’ve been seeking her out for a Friday Five for a long time now and I’m very excited that this day has come!
…stuff I’m loving right now!

1. The Giacomo chair by Atelier
I love design that references the past but does so in a modern or unexpected way. This chair, with its Neo-Baroque meets Pop Art attitude, strikes the perfect balance of fresh yet familiar.

2. White Pebble chair from Carlos Maluku collection
I love to use rustic natural materials in a controlled refined way to create spaces that are elegant and modern yet comfortable and tactile. The White Pebble chair from Carlos Maluku Collection is pure loungey luxury — think Fred Flintstone meets Fendi!

3. Patina table from the Phillips Collection
From fabrics to wall finishes, I have always loved the interaction of light on metallic surfaces. Right now I’m really into metallic finishes that are combinations of metals like gold and silver which I call “gliver” or metallics with a multi-hued aged patina that seemingly always speak to at least one color in a space. The Patina table from the Phillips Collection is one of my faves!

4. The Arne Tub
I am a tub person. However, fitting my six-foot frame into one that’s comfortable for a relaxing soak is a bit of a challenge. The Arne tub, inspired by Arne Jacobsen’s Egg Chair, is on my Designer Wish List!

5. Droog
I love serious design AND I love to laugh so there is nothing better to me than great design that makes me giggle. Amsterdam based Droog’s gallery/shops are filled with ingenious, thought provoking, quirky concepts that ooze creativity. Whether it’s the Push and Store cabinet, the Crystal Virus-Massive Infection Table, the Tree Trunk Bench or the ultimate interactive design experience, the Do-Hit chair (check out the YouTube video!), Droog never ceases to amaze and amuse me. A visit to their Soho shop is always a must-do when I’m in NYC.

Candice is hands down the best designer on TV. Her rooms are always well-planned and extremely well-executed. She manages to balance simplicity and cleanliness with just enough decorative accents to make the spaces cozy and livable. She’s also one of the few designers who still has incredible hand-rendering skills, a lost art in today’s digital world.

Do you really think she does her own renderings? I don’t!
I bet the room comes together and then the renderings are created from photos. Think about it!
