ICFF 2011: Favorites

Who knew that my favorites this year’s ICFF would include a toilet seat?

Lou is a brand new product from the guys behind the genius kitty litter box ModKat. Apparently these guys have lots of sh*t on their minds… seems they’ve moved from cat “business” to people “business” with Lou the toilet seat. Lou features a sleek design that fits any standard seat and combines the cover with the seat. The center piece lifts up for sitting or the entire thing lifts up for the boys, with a cute reminder underneath for guys to close the seat. There’s also a kid version called Lou, Jr. I think it’s clever, interesting — and amongst the sea of wooden chairs and gray couches I saw this year, it was a breath of fresh air.

Art of Board was one of my absolute faves. OK probably my best of show. They take old, broken skateboards and turn them into tile. You can actually grout it! So colorful and creative and a great use for something that would otherwise be thrown out.

I loved Black + Blum‘s new flowerpot grill. You can plant herbs in the top and use the bottom as a grill. Comes complete with tongs!

Esque never disappoints, but this year I really enjoyed their new bone lights as well as the gold chain mail details they’re using on their new pendants.

BKNYdesign was another surprise with these adorable iPad and iPhone stands that resemble old-style TVs called V-luxe. The top swivels and tilts for easy viewing at any angle and there’s even a spot for a speaker.

And finally, Crafted, the Urbancase and Teroforma collaboration. I don’t have a booth photo, but I just did a post on the collection here.
