Lakesha Johnson is an LA-based artist and illustrator who has a passion for creating celebrity likeness and its influences on their audience.
All her life she has observed the culture of mainstream societies, and her work has been influenced by the mass media mentalities that she’s been fed. She explains, “As a child, my great grandmother wanted to tune into I Love Lucy & John Wayne programs that taught us how to be a ‘Real Housewife’ and a ‘Real Cowboy’ in that particular era. Now, I am inspired when I see Kanye West introduce a trend in sunglasses that has the Gen Y population emulating his stylization or Vogue magazine project the supposing concepts of beauty.”
Her works include mixed media pieces that consist of pen and ink, acrylic, with a silkscreen and digital finish.
