Modern Home Designed for Indoor/Outdoor California Living

humn lab+ was commissioned to design a new home in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood and with its Southern California location, indoor/outdoor living was a priority. The exterior pairs a smooth black finish on the second story with warm wooden planks installed horizontally for a visually dynamic street presence. Spanning just over 5,000 square feet, the house includes five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms making it the perfect family home, especially with its close proximity to the beach.

Around back, the ground floor extends to the grassy backyard via floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that are 13 feet high! There is over 45 lineal feet of sliding glass doors dissolving all separation to the outside, which includes views to the north, south, and to the Santa Monica Mountains. On the rooftop deck it’s even better – you get 360 degree views.

The same wood seen on the exterior is used on an interior wall creating a cozier vibe than an all-white room.

The main living area has an open floor plan with sight lines that span the entire depth of the house.

There are even killer views from the bathtub in the master bedroom.
