Designer Benjamin Rollins Caldwell, of BRC Designs, is known for creating furniture in unusual materials and I’d say stained glass fits in that category. Mosaic Chair 02 references mid-century design with its low, angular frame, a frame that looks like a stained glass window.
Inspired by “the abstract nature of stained glass windows,” the faceted chair is made up of half inch frosted tempered glass that is inset into a black, auto paint-covered steel frame. The goose down cushions are covered in lamb shearling that’s dyed red.
The hard angles of the frame are balanced out with the softness of the cushions, making this one functional piece of art.
