The Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus Is Brighter, More Flexible and Extendable

Philips is doubling down on their line of consumer connected LED lighting technology, upgrading the Hue Lightstrip with a “Plus” moniker with improved features all around. The new Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus remains a self-adhesive length of LED lights like its predecessor, with color customization via an iOS and Android app, but is now even more adept at flexing around corners as both ambient and even primary lighting thanks to a lumens upgrade.

Philips made the Hue Lightstrip Plus brighter…much brighter. A new array of LEDs can produce over 16 million colors at up to a “where’s my sunglasses” 1600 lumens brightness, making this new version capable of becoming primary lighting versus the modest mood-enhancing 120 lumens of the original.

The lighting giant took note of Hue customers complaints about the limitations of extending the original Lightstrip. The Hue Lightstrip Plus comes with 2-meter out of the box, but now can be further extended up to 10 meters with the purchase of extra attachable 1 meter extension kits. This opens the possibility of running the bendable strip along the length and corners of kitchen cabinetry, along hallways, and even inside garage spaces where the bright LEDs could come in handy without using much electricity.
