Plug it in! is the graduate project of Dorien van Heijst, who just graduated from the School of Arts (HKU) in Utrecht. Plug it in! is a project that explores the social connection of the past and present.
Inspired by today’s social networks and media in which we share interests without physical contact, Dorien has created a pair of headphones with which you can share your music with others while still listening independently.
“The connection” is the most distinct design aspect of the headphones, made of wood, porcelain and leather. A gold-plated jack is the place where others can “listen in.” They have been designed so that no sound or volume loss will occur.

Not exactly sure how no volume loss occurs. If I have headphones with a resistance of 64 ohms and your have a resistance of 16 there will be a definite difference in volume. If they managed a way to get around that I’d love to find out how it’s done.

ShareBuds (http://sharebudsmx.com/) music-sharing headphones are excellent for this – http://ow.ly/jAywv
