Portrait in Chair by Akio Hayakawa

I’m sure most of you know that sitting all day in a chair is not the best for your back, and unfortunately, most ergonomic chairs aren’t the best looking. However, Japan-based designer Akio Hayakawa proposes a new, minimalist chair that gives more support to your back.

Portrait in Chair is based off the simple chair that everyone imagines, but with a slightly shifted axis to better support the back. By manipulating the axis so, it not only provides a pleasing visual effect but also offers freer behavior with the chair. As so, the chair alters the everyday experience of sitting and transforms everyday life.
