The Print-Focused Textiles of Cassie Byrnes

Melbourne-based textile designer Cassie Byrnes creates colorful, abstract patterns that she applies to assorted collections of housewares, screen printed artwork, and print-focused clothing. Between various collaborations and launching her own textile label, Variety Hour, Byrnes stays busy with fun, hand-painted patterns that give off nothing short of the happy feels.

Gondwanaland is a recently launched, debut collection for Variety Hour, which explores a variety of clothing, screen printed artwork, and housewares. The collection offers a fictional approach to the bygone Mesozoic era through print-focused fabrics with inspiration from natural lines and formations of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, the sub-tropical flora of Gondwana, old geological diagrams, color field painting, and abstract expressionism.
