Recycled Pendant Lamps by Kelly Caruso

Designer Kelly Caruso is a recent grad with a degree in Furniture Design and Woodworking but it’s her Recycled Pendant Lamps that really caught our attention. What began with a grant from her college to study “the application of recycled material in furniture design,” led her down the path that she’s now on and it’s a good one.

A local restaurant gave her avocado crates that she disassembled and sewed into the various shapes you see here. The layering of the concave disks allows light to pass through creating really interesting shadows.

The hand stitching is really beautiful and I love the way the thread joins together at the top to hang the pendant from the cord.

She has even begun to dye the individual pieces and started looking into how to use them in different ways.  She came up with this colorful room divider and it’s awesome!
