Mexican designer Ricardo Garza Marcos designed this clever coffee table called San Andreas. Made of oak wood, it was inspired by its namesake — the tectonic fault that lies between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. I love that it doesn’t just come apart in two pieces as expected, but instead features hidden storage inside.

I love this table–it’s simplicity is what makes it so brilliant. I happen to have a spot in my home where it would fit ever so nicely!

A nice concept behind a nice coffee table. It would be good to see the other works of other industrial designers that Mexico has produced.
