Sensei by Claudio Sibille

I’m always interested to see how designers create pieces of furniture that are not only space-saving, but multifunctional, such as this Sensei chair/table set from Claudio Sibille. Flip the chairs on their sides and piece them together like a puzzle to create a console table.

This is the kind of space-saving ingenuity design needs. I’ve got a 747 square feet home and am always in need of extra chairs; this is a much cleaner look than hauling stuff from the basement.
Pretty cool unless you want to sit at the table.
Very clever. Even better..make 3 stools that fit under the table so you could squeeze in seating for 5 when in chairs mode.
This design reminds me of the article I read today about green design trends. Jill Fehrenbacher (Editor in Chief of Inhabitat) describes the 2012 trend will be that “there will be a growing demand for experience/interaction design skills rather than traditional product design skills. More attention will be paid to how something works and how it makes a user feel rather than how it looks.” Here’s the link if anyone’s interested:

I like smart ideas. Just like the RISING TABLE by Robert van Embricqs:
