The glass plane in this ceiling pendant looks like silk crinkled perfectly in straight lines. To achieve this effect, designer Nils Finne placed hundreds of thin glass rods on a clear base sheet by hand, which were fused together in a kiln at high temperature. Waterjet cutting technology was used to create the plane’s organic shape and the stainless steel lamp holder that provides cable support is actually a martini shaker cut to the appropriate size. The light shines through the glass plane and reflects on the ceiling above, creating a subtle and alluring effect.
