I take that the one who wrote this post is a coffee-drinker?
A lot of these supposedly clever tea products are obviously not designed by tea-drinkers. If you care enough to buy whole leaves instead of teabags, you wouldn’t stuff it in a ball like that. To make good cup of tea, you need to hit the leaves with hot water, causing it to move up and down known as “tea dance”. With tightly rolled tea such as Gunpowder tea, there is simply no room for the leaves to expand. Not to mention how difficult it is to clean tea stain out of plastic.
Looks like one of those cute useless thing that a coffee-drinker would buy for a tea-drinker for Christmas.

I tend to agree with @agora in general. Good loose leaf tea needs a lot of room to expand and release its flavor. Tea balls don’t really work for that. On the other hand if you have cheap loose tea – tends to be almost powdery – then tea balls may be an ok thing. In any case I do like the design of this particular tea ball stick.
