British South Korean grocery chain Tesco connects with busy people through an innovative new concept, Home Plus that they launched in South Korea. They created billboards the subway stations that feature a range of products that customers can then select and scan using QR codes with their cell phones, only to have the selected groceries delivered later to their doorstep. The displays are set up just like aisles in any grocery store, so while you’re waiting for the train, you can get that pesky chore out of the way. I would love to see this expanded to other markets.

very cool! But isn’t Tesco British? Or do the Koreans have their own?

my cousin who’s Korean told me literally everyone in Korea has smartphones [iphones are not popular there]. i can’t believe how much technology has evolved! even vending machines are alive, lol. imho Korea and Japan are leading in the tech. market. just wish the US had more audacity to step up.

Tesco is a British retailer (in fact the largest retailer). They are trying to break in to the Korean Market. Seeing that the Koreans are one of the most connected people in the world, this is probably a smart move.

Since TESCO is originally English you can thank us Brits for more innovative tech ;)

Tesco is not a South Korean grocery chain, it’s British (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesco). As the video explains, this is something they did in South Korea to increase their market share there.

Well, this campaign is doubtful in South Korea whether it was actually executed or not. Moreover, some people criticized that this is just for Cannes Lions.. Of course, nobody knows it has really made the results mentioned at the end of the video clip or not.
