Finnish design firm Tunto, and its founder Mikko Kärkkäinen have won this year’s Red Dot Design Award for this innovative and modern table lamp. Sans all visible switches, users control the installed LEDs through “gentle touch.” Available soon through FinnishDesignShop.

While this Red Dot Award winning lamp clearly has some special qualities, it does remind me a lot of the DIY project I saw at How2PointOh via Curbly (http://how2pointoh.blogspot.com/2007/10/bent-acrylic-lamp-w-birch-veneer.html).
The touch sensitization seems like it would be another easy DIY technique, though again the Tunto Lamp is clearly worth its acclaim.
