This beach house by Bark Architects is a modern interpretation of a tree house, with living spaces located above the garden. There is a certain connection between internal and external spaces, through the use of hand operated, perforated sun shutters that also offer privacy and light control. Large stacking sliding doors also provide maximum transparency between living areas and the outdoor. A double height entry space create a grand feeling and reinforces the open floor plan design.

Amazingly uninteresting! Yet another over designed and poorly detailed house by Bark Architects. Bark justify this abomination making delusional references to a ‘tree house’ on a cleared site and living areas above a garden (what garden?). The decorative, hand operated shutters add further confusion to what seems to be an erratic and undisciplined design process in the studio of Bark. The site was better off without this house, the Client better off going elsewhere and Qld is now infected by another Bark House. Lucky it’s in Woodgate where no one will find it.

AJ says, “Lucky it’s in Woodgate where no one will find it”
What a pompous statement!
Perhaps the owners would have built it for them to enjoy a relaxed holiday.
Woodgate is one of the best beaches within 4 hours drive from Brisbane – 16 km of unspoiled sandy beach, surrounded by a national park, Theodolite creek and Burrum river. Obviously it is not over-rated as some other beaches closer to Brisbane.
