1/2 Chair Looks Forward to Being Able to Share Once Again

Rabea Gebler is an industrial design student in her final year of studies at the University of Applied Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. While an exchange student at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem she took a course focused on hospitality in design, and conceptualized the 1/2 chair as a result.

Looking to create a product that encourages sharing, Gebler decided to work with a standard wooden chair form, but double its appearance – thereby adding a second chair. Interwoven with the first chair, the second waits full of potential for another person to join. Simply pull out each side to transform the 1/2 chair into a bench for two.
