A Modern Florida Home With Warm Woods + Metallic Accents
Glittering gold, luxe silver, brazen brass, unassuming bronze – most of us have a favorite we gravitate towards. Some go bold and mix metals, and when done right, it truly elevates the visual interest of a room. Others like to ease into metallics by starting with one finish and layering in a few accent pieces to make a space feel captivating. Metals can not only change the look of a space, but they also adjust the feel by adding warmth through bronze and matte gold, or a touch of glam by using chrome or brass. Pair with furniture and decor in bold or subtle textures and patterns, depending on where you fall between minimalism and maximalism, and your metallic elements will make any space shine.
V Starr, the award-winning design firm founded by Venus Williams, designed this Florida residence with a modern aesthetic featuring warm woods and metallic details. The plan focused on creating a welcoming family home offering space for gatherings and relaxation, from the light-filled kitchen to the hidden entertainment room, and beyond.
The open concept kitchen features minimalist white cabinets alongside eye-catching Officine Gullo appliances featuring brass accents. Burnished brass Aquitaine Pendants from RH hang above the white stone island. Even the tile backsplash glistens with brass inlays surrounded by white Thassos marble.
In lieu of a large chandelier, V Starr selected a variety of Tom Dixon Beat Pendants in solid brass and brass with matte black exteriors, interspersed with a handful of glass pendants.
A bookcase doubles as a door to a hidden entertainment room (below) which includes a bar, comfortable seating and a custom neon sign from Manhattan Neon Signs surrounded by green plants.
A pair of his and hers bathrooms were given individual looks, one light and airy with white surfaces, marble shower walls and brass fixtures, while the other has a warmer palette with dark wood vanity and cabinets, grey tiles and a stone wall.
