Abstract Graffiti-Like Paintings Inspired by Manhattan

Palm Springs based painter Downs has a series of paintings inspired by his time living in Manhattan. Now in his late 50’s, Downs has developed a signature style full of colors, layers, and random patterns. Organic shapes overlap previously painted orbs, each with crisscrossed marks, swirls, and lines, made with a single edge razor blade, that create a world of controlled chaos feeling almost like abstract graffiti.
