Bernadotte & Kylberg Elevate Nature With the Eriksberg Collection

Swedish brand Bernadotte & Kylberg, founded by Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte and Oscar Kylberg, is on a mission to produce elegant, heirloom-quality pieces that blend antiquity and modernity. These new pieces utilize the finest local materials with the best of Swedish craftsmanship and production. Titled the Eriksberg Collection, three classical pieces join the portfolio: The Eriksberg Desk, the Eriksberg Chair, and the Eriksberg Cabinet.

Designed specifically for the Eriksberg Hotel & Nature Reserve, the Eriksberg Collection perfectly encapsulates the heart of the Swedish oasis. At over 900 hectares, it is incredibly biodiverse, with deer, bison, and wild boar all free to organically roam the estate. Its incredible size makes it one of the largest wildlife enclosures in Europe. “Bernadotte & Kylberg have created a new sustainable and timeless design that reflects the soul and natural diversity of Eriksberg. They have designed the entire exclusive interior in our new hotel building the Ark, from furniture to carpets, in three nature-orientated suites on three different floors,” says Per-Arne Olsson, CEO of Eriksberg Hotel & Nature Reserve.

The Eriksberg Collection

Steeped in reverence to Swedish culture, many local materials were used to reflect the sensibilities of the Reserve. The design duo only chose timeless materials, such as solid oak, brass, and Bishop diabase, a naturally occuring stone that has a close grained, charcoal finish, with small specks of white. ”The diabase stone quarried at Biskopsgården, in the northeastern part of the Swedish region Skåne, is truly unique, impressing not only with its rarity but also with its exceptional character and composition,” Oscar Kylberg explains. This makes each piece even more exclusive, embodying the principles of design and nature.

The Eriksberg Desk

The Eriksberg Desk accentuates the depth of color within the diabase stone, pulling the charcoal-hued blues, layered in contrast with the warmth of the wood. The inlay at the back reflects this choice, capping the form and stating the end of the work, while also offering a lengthening quality. The choice of brass here, as within all aspects of the Eriksberg Collection, denotes a sense of elegance and heritage.

The Eriksberg Cabinet

The Eriksberg Cabinet is a luxurious vessel, a nod to the celebrations of another era. With the minimalism we expect to see in modern times, the polished golden interior perfectly reflects any glassware or heirlooms stored within. Yet, the contents are hidden from view, not available to just any onlooker. One must engage with the elegant brass pulls to open one door, or all four, to find out what’s inside.

The Eriksberg Chair, with it’s relatively light frame and glossy polished finish, stands out in a crowd. The rectangular motifs we see in the back are very of the moment, popping up on runways and showrooms across the globe. Tapered legs and back add to the movement of the piece, reaching back like the first stretch of the day. The legs are adorned with that delicate touch of brass, adding strength and style to a piece designed to last a lifetime.

For over a decade, Bernadotte & Kylberg have been creating beautiful and timeless designs for brands across the world. In 2023, the studio launched its own brand Bernadotte & Kylberg, the first collection consisting of luxurious scarves and throws in some of the finest silk and wool. Now, the range has expanded to include exclusive handcrafted furniture and brassware. This venture serves to amplify their scope of design, with more of the process under one roof. Unique details and sustainability are at the forefront of their ethos, connecting us to true Nordic design with every product.
