Chilewich’s Worktop Adds Texture to Your Kitchen in a New Way

If you struggle with keeping your kitchen and dining spaces clean, take comfort knowing that even a Michelin-starred restaurant had trouble with this never-ending issue before they switched over to Worktop, a new product offering by Chilewich. Originally developed for hospitality applications, Worktop is a custom woven covering that helps protect large surface areas while also adding a textural element. Now available to consumers, Worktop can be extended for use in bathroom vanities, desktops, and more.

Worktop was tested at New York’s Eleven Madison Park restaurant where it was praised by Chef Daniel Humm for all of its best features: “The Worktops are beautiful, durable, and easy to clean. They improve our kitchen, and that’s a special quality.” Worktop is fully customizable in size, weave, color, and cut-outs to accommodate for sinks and garbage cans. The back is lined with a waterproof, non-stick, non-slip 2.8mm foam to ensure that the covering stays put. Instead of needing to frequently change out typical linen coverings, Worktop can easily be wiped down, or soaked and scrubbed if needed.

For restaurants and homeowners alike, this saves time, energy, and costs associated with regular laundering, which can add up. A Michelin-starred restaurant estimated that it spent $33,600 per year on regular tablecloths before converting to Worktop. While consumers might not see that big of a savings when using Worktop in their own home, they can still appreciate having a clean, protected kitchen that doesn’t require as much of an upkeep.
