No matter how cool this is, cork is a finite resource, hence why so many plastic corks are being made for wine bottles. this is kind of a waste of a tree if you ask me.

Wine producers have a preference to either use plastic or cork. Depending on where the wine is produced, cork screws can be more expensive than plastic.
Also some producers believe that plastic cork eliminates the problem of “corked” wine and excludes oxygen from the bottles more efficiently.
Cork is harvested without damaging or chopping down trees. It comes from the bark of the cork oak, and is harvested only once every nine or ten years.

Cork is one of the most renewable resources on the planet. It is by nature sustainably harvested. In fact the more you use it the better it is for the ecosystems that are sustained by the cork trees because the economic viability of the cork trees protects those environments by ensuring that less sustainable agricultural products do not suplant the cork forests. Cork harvesting is such a perfect example of proper commercial use of natural materials that many people find it hard to believe. Just look up what the World Wildlife Fund has to say about it. CoolCorC is using this great resource to develop products that help us not use as many trees for paper products such as coffee cup sleeves. http://www.coolcorc.com

Very well said Coolcorc , that is why we use cork as our main material for these sleeves. The more cork the industry use at large the better.
