A modular system of platforms and cushions, Faba Modular Lounge begins as a foundation for flexible configurations shaped by the needs of each space. Mario Ferrarini designed the collection for Davis Furniture from a curated set of essential elements, a restrained architectural framework that cedes its expression to the surrounding space, materials, and application. Two-, three-, and four-seat platforms carry Faba from a simple backless bench to an expansive sectional configuration in workplace, lobby, hospitality, and public environments.

“Faba is about creating a foundation rather than a focal point,” Ferrarini says. “I was interested in designing something that supports the life around it, allowing people, materials, and architecture to emerge.” Ferrarini works from Milan, where his practice pairs technical precision with an undercurrent of emotional sensitivity. Reticence runs through the portfolio, and his pieces settle into a given setting while holding a strong identity of their own. Faba extends the approach into a system with considerable range, one whose character arrives through the application at hand and the palette specified around it.

Modularity gives the collection its reach, with platforms taking a variety of seats, backs, arms, and corner tables in arrangements a designer can tune to the plan at hand. The interplay between upholstered and hard-surface components widens the range further. Exposed portions of the platform can sit between cushions to function as integrated table surfaces within a single run. When specified without upholstery, a platform can also serve as an occasional table or media unit in the same material vocabulary, extending Faba beyond traditional lounge seating.

Underpinning each configuration is a precisely engineered platform, an MDF core reinforced with an internal steel support system that holds everything above it dimensionally consistent. Upholstered seating is constructed over engineered plywood frames and layered with multi-density polyurethane foam to balance support and comfort, while heavy-gauge steel plates strengthen the structural connections for exact alignment and long-term durability. Tailored double-needle stitching supplies the finishing detail.

Supporting each platform is a sculptural die-cast aluminum leg, offered polished or in more than 35 powder coat finishes from Davis Furniture. Its shape introduces a subtle counterpoint to the system’s rectilinear geometry, lending movement to an otherwise linear composition. Platform surfaces are available in ash, oak, and walnut veneer, FENIX® Innovative Materials, and standard laminates, giving Faba ample aesthetic latitude from one specification to the next. “The system is intentionally simple, but within that simplicity, there is a great deal of freedom, both in how it is configured and how it is expressed through material,” Ferrarini adds.

Faba answers to spatial planning as much as to the eye, supporting back-to-back and multi-directional configurations within one footprint that suit open-plan offices, lobbies, and shared environments where division and flow must coexist. Power modules integrate into the face of the platform, and an optional “J” tray conceals horizontal wire management, allowing the collection to meet the functional demands of contemporary interiors while keeping its visual language cohesive. “Faba reflects a disciplined approach to modular design,” says Rob Easton, Vice President of Design + Development at Davis Furniture. “It gives designers a system that is both highly flexible and highly resolved. The simplicity is what makes it powerful, allowing materiality, configuration, and environment to shape the final outcome.”
