Design Milk Is Heading to NeoCon – Here’s What We’re Excited to See
NeoCon opens its doors this upcoming June 13-15, 2022 in Chicago, Illinois at theMART (formerly the Merchandise Mart). After a brief hiatus these past couple of years, we’re excited to get back on the show floor and discover the next wave of modern design for commercial and contract spaces. Pack your bags, book your travels, and register here to attend! NeoCon will cover the latest in design for a variety of sectors, including workplace, healthcare, hospitality, retail, education, public space, and government. There’s a lot to see, so be sure check out the full program on Neocon.com and add these seven features to your agenda:
Keynote speakers like Chicago-based artist Nick Cave, Bob Faust of the communication studio Faust, renowned designed Bruce Mau, and multi-hyphenate Shashi Caan will host a presentation each day of the fair. The talks can be viewed via livestream on the NeoCon Hub and will cover topics about the art of collaboration between art itself and design, discovering and developing holistic solutions through life-centered design, and the role of design in addressing current societal challenges.
A number of engaging experiences and activations will pop-up throughout the floors of theMART. If you love Danish design, head to Floor 10, Suite 1091. Danish Design Makers (DDM) will be debuting its exhibition IN UNION, showcasing Danish design solutions to foster openness, collaboration, and community in a post-pandemic world.
Have you seen a Framery pod in person yet? Leading the charge on revolutionizing meeting/privacy pods, Framery will be showcasing the world’s first connected soundproof meeting pod, the Framery One.
Similarly, if you need a moment to yourself, Zenbooth is setting up a Connection Cafe so that you can pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself or others through the available question cards.
NeoCon will be offering 47 CEU (Continuing Education Units) sessions for those looking to expand their knowledge. There are 8 program tracks (Workplace, Healthcare, Education, Facilities, Wellness, Sustainability, Design Skills, and Industry Direction) and an impressive roster of industry-leading experts heading up the accredited sessions. The topics are extremely relevant and helpful in understanding design in today’s day and age, such as “Designing the Metaverse: How NFTs will Evolve the Design Landscape” and “Holistic Buildings: Translating Biophilic Design Strategies into the Built Environment.”
The Best of NeoCon, a hallmark of the fair since 1990, is always a highlight in seeing who will stand out in a sea of innovative and outstanding design. The winners will be announced the morning of June 13 when the doors to NeoCon officially open. All the winning products will be on exhibit, so if you’re looking for the best of the best in design, start here.
Students and new emerging designers will benefit from checking out the Student Programs, including the ASID Design Pathways Panel + Tour, which will offer clarity on the importance of trade shows; the IIDA Student Design Charette, a live, onsite competition where students are given six hours to create a design solution and present to a panel of design leaders; and the IIDA Student Roundtable, an engaging conversation to discuss the state of the industry.
