Wow! A truly unprecedented look into the daily goings-on of a modern furniture design firm. Very Cool!

Bit boring. Not enough useful info, some random shots and flat commentary, often supported with irrelevant visuals. Great place indeed but wasted opportunity.

Simply Amazing!
A billion dollar’s worth of high tech tools
and absolutely no design sensibility whatever.
‘Guess money can’t buy artistic vision.

While you don’t get a glimpse of the design process this is obviously a day in the life video…
Obviously these products are made to a quality level above and beyond what you would find almost anywhere in the world. Part of the video is to show the machinery they use. This fledgling firm has started to produce some interesting pieces I look forward to seeing how they harness the capabilities of the machinery they have.

Great short video. Just enough to whet my appetite for more to come.
I agree with B, “Obviously these products are made to a quality level above and beyond what you would find almost anywhere in the world.”
ICFF Editors Award for New Designer! Not to shabby.
Will be looking out for more.

Fair enough.
Now let’s see:
>Close up of expensive tools milling some kind of metal trinket.
>Lunch.
>Trip to the Lumber Yard.
Where’s the “obvious quality that’s beyond anything in the world” ?

Hi Elliot,
This isn’t a video about making a product — it’s about a “day in the life”. Obviously, the products made take more than one day to produce. You can see more of Objeti’s products at http://objeti.com or here. I can tell you that I did see them in person and they are top quality pieces, both designed and made well.
Perhaps we will ask Objeti to do a Deconstruction post some time soon to document the process of making one piece from start to finish.

Elliot,
If you taken a minute to do some checking you might have looked at their website and seen what they do. Maybe read about the people behind the business. Might have noticed they are working in a machine/tool shop. If you’d googled the name you might have seen that it’s an old family business where it appears that one son has decided to pursue a passion with the help of the family. I can’t wait to see if that’s the case and see where it all leads.
Good stuff really. As Charles Eames is attributed to having said “The details are not the details. They make the design.” Check out the details of the knob they are machining and the mechanism in their Aerialist line.
I’m not sure if it’s just me but that kind of attention to detail and craftsmanship is what sets designs apart.
