Dial and Disc Wireless Chargers from Sum

It was early last year when we noticed a deluge of manufacturers bringing out all varieties of wireless charging pads and stands for phones, tablets, and smartwatches. LA-based Sum is attempting to stand out from the category with two minimalist Qi-enabled fast chargers aimed at Apple and Android wireless device users.

The DISC is the more common of the two designs, a minimalist circle of tempered glass surface disk and anodized aluminum housing. The Qi-certified fast charger works with cases up to 3mm thick, including leather, silicone, or other non-metal cases.

The DIAL is the more unique of the two designs, with an adjustable angle charging pad and a stand capable of rotating 360°. With a revolution, the flat surface transforms into a front facing 29° viewing angled stand, ideal for the desk or on the bed stand – for times when you might want to glance at notifications or unlock phones with facial recognition in either portrait and landscape orientation.

Both DIAL and the DISC were conceived as non-intrusive, minimalist designs to “complement and blend within the home and office”, right alongside “accessories, furniture, and décor.” Unlike some other wireless chargers, both Sum designs are made to stay put on any surface, finished in anodized aluminum and weighted at the bottom to prevent slipping. Sum also thoughtfully equips each device with a dim LED light in regards to keeping this near anywhere you might sleep, while overheat protection and foreign-object detection add an additional level of protection, supporting a one-year warranty.

Although these wireless chargers are compatible with all Qi-enabled devices, it is notable to mention they’re only capable of delivering 10W power output for fast charging specifically with Apple and Samsung phones. Both are available now online from the Design Milk Shop here!
