Recognizing the over abundance of waste that plastic produces, designer Dave Hakkens thought about how there were no machines for the average consumer to recycle plastic, just the big companies. Enter Precious Plastic, a series of DIY machines that will help you turn unwanted plastic into usable objects or raw materials.
Hakkens designed the machines so that they could be made at home out of universal materials and basic tools available around the world. Everything has been made available online, including the blueprints, a series of detailed instructional videos, and the download kit, all of which are shared via open source in hopes that you’ll share the information you’ve gained.
Whether you want to create, set up production, start a business, or just clean up your neighborhood, the Precious Plastic machines can get your started.
