Doggy Dreamhouse Design by Studio Schicketanz

You might have noticed that we here at Dog Milk get pretty excited about dog products that marry functionality with elegant modern design. So you can imagine the collective “Coooool” that was basically our response when we saw Studio Schicketanz‘s Doggy Dreamhouse design. The Doggy Dreamhouse, which was designed by Studio Schicketanz and constructed by Lewis Builders for the Carmel (CA) Canine Cottages Competition, a local SPCA fundraiser, definitely lives up to its name, boasting a host of design features designed for canine comfort and environmental sustainability. The grass ramp and roof make it an organic design addition to any yard while providing a cool, natural surface for doggies to sun themselves. The irrigated roof also features a motion-activated drinking faucet, and the house’s solar-powered fan effectively cools the indoor space. Functionality is also considered from a human perspective: a built-in drawer offers storage space for toys, treats, and other supplies, and a built-in floor drain and large door make for easy clean-up.

The house will be auctioned off during the Carmel Canine Cottages Competition in Carmel, California, held September 11-15, 2018.

Katherine, who lives with her family in the mountains of North Carolina, curated her own dog blog for a couple of years before joining the Design Milk team. If she ever won the lottery, she’d most definitely spend it all on live music & airfare to New York City. Other interests include craft beer, banjos, books, & BBQ.
