Dwell on Design 2013 Exclusive House Tour: H House

Located in Glendale, California, the two-bedroom H House is the next stop on the East Side & Downtown Home Tour 2013 from the Dwell Home Tours. The 1,300-square-foot house is situated on a hillside and was designed and built in 1962 by architect Richard Banta. Over the years, the residence has seen its share of updates by way of a remodeled kitchen and new floors, but overall, the house remains the same.

As with most of Banta’s houses, the H House was and is small in size, but unlike most of the others in the region, this one remains close to the original design. Named for its H-shaped plan, the home has received a paint job, a deck rebuild, and a revamp of the bathrooms since the new owner took possession in 2011.

The new owner, Brent Nichols, acted as his own contractor and designer during the renovation and hand-selected the furnishings in each room to reflect the character of the home. He mixed contemporary and classic pieces from Kartell, Design Within Reach, Richard Schultz, and Magis.

The Togo Sofa from Lignet Roset fits in quite nicely in the space, doesn’t it?
