Designed by Tommaso Bistacchi for Valsecchi 1918, this desk lamp holds more than a light bulb. Created from a single block of walnut, the base of the lamp also features holes and spaces for pens, crayons, letters and business cards.
The lamp itself is made of metal and fits into the slit in the walnut block in many different ways and angles, depending on how much light you need. You can get the wood in either walnut or ash and metal finishes of red, yellow, light blue, white, black.

Love this simplicity and functional design

This is such an example of 20th century functional design in which function dictates form. It is the job of the designer to make the object beautiful – not an easy task. It also reminds me of my first job after Art School, that of assistant designer for Atlas Lighting. My hat is off to this designer who created this in 1918 – far ahead of his time.
