Raw Edges is a collaboration between Yael Mer & Shay Alkalay and they recently debuted a new collection, Endgrain, which was a long time in the making.
After trying unsuccessfully to permanently stain the floors of Stella McCartney’s stores, Raw Edges was inspired to figure out a way to make the stains everlasting.
By experimenting with over 20 different types of wood and techniques, they were able to finally figure out the right combination of wood and pigments to ensure that the dye soaked all the way through the wood, making it permanent.
The results are these colorful tables and shelves made from arranging the wood into different patterns.

Raw edges still remains one of my favourite studios, and this is like nothing I’ve ever seen, great to see such experimentation.
