Excellent Ed by Stacy McAnulty

Like any normal adult, I’m crazy about picture books, and picture books that feature dogs always rank among my favorites. Excellent Ed, a recent release from author Stacy McAnulty and illustrator Julia Sarcone-Roach, is definitely a new fave. It tells the story of Ed, an ambitious mutt, who lives with the Ellis kids, who each excel at something special. When Ed tries to find something he can be excellent at, well, as you can imagine, hilarity and cuteness and life lessons ensue. Excellent Ed has been hailed by School Library Journal as “a dog lover’s delight.” I found it while sniffing around at my favorite local independent bookstore, but you can also get it from the publisher and Amazon.

Katherine, who lives with her family in the mountains of North Carolina, curated her own dog blog for a couple of years before joining the Design Milk team. If she ever won the lottery, she’d most definitely spend it all on live music & airfare to New York City. Other interests include craft beer, banjos, books, & BBQ.
