New Baroque Becomes Mainstream

The trend was clear in Milan last spring. The time has come for antique revivals. They are the new “vintage.”

Sleek chic is out and outdoor opulence is in. At the high end of the market for indoors you can see patterned elegant wallpapers re-emerging. When you listen to interviews by industry gurus “à la Marcel Wanders,” the new party line is that designs that can be passed down to the next generation are the true mark of eco-consciousness. So it is hardly a surprise that styles that have stood the test of time are creeping back…with a twist. Now a mainstream outdoor brand has leaped on the trend.

Fatboy, the brand known for their world famous bean bags have introduced RockCoco, an “outdoor” chandelier. The design plays on the “Late Baroque” style of the 18th century, for what they hope will be “your finishing touch to your personal Versailles.” The RockCoco is also LED powered.

To have a go at the trend, you can also opt for the Glorify seats that we featured after ICFF.
