Disposable plates are ubiquitous in the contemporary on-the-go style of life. Except that now, people have started thinking a little more about the environmental impact of disposable tableware. We previously posted about VerTerra, so it seems that leaf-based disposable plates are becoming the “it” throwaway dinnerware.
Disposable plates by Hampi Products are eco-friendly, biodegradable and they have an attractive design. The production process is completely eco-sustainable, 100% chemical free and the product is compostable. Dry palm leaves are collected at Areca tree plantations which are cultivated in tropical regions for nuts, pressed with heat and care and packed. Light and consistent, the plates can contain hot food and liquids up to 200 degrees and be inserted into microwave or even traditional ovens for a few minutes.

That’s pretty neat. If it was cheaper to get them to the U.S. it would be a good option for us as a small restaurant. Although they don’t have lids/clamshells. Anyway, neat product.
