It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since we first wrote (and gushed) about Dog + Bone! Since that time, they’ve continued to elevate what a collar or leash can be through their focus on quality and sustainability. Founders Anne Christian and Ivan Cook — a husband and wife team with a shared love of dogs, animal rescue, and sustainable living — recently packed up their two-person/four-dog/one-cat operation and moved from Austin, Texas to Lake City, Colorado (population 374). Their new space, a former US Forest Service building, is now the Dog + Bone basecamp, housing their first-ever retail space, a studio, and their residence. (Read more about their story here, it’s really quite cool.)
Each snap collar, martingale collar, and adjustable leash is still made in-house in small batches to ensure that production waste is kept to an absolute minimum. Dog + Bone gear features military-grade buckles, industrial-strength nylon webbing, and solid brass hardware. In fact, Dog + Bone is so committed to quality, they guarantee their products for life. Don’t let the bright colors fool you: this stuff is made to last!
Speaking of colors, we continue to be obsessed with Dog + Bone’s fantastic color combos and are especially enamored with their latest addition: an icy, light pink situation called Orchid. *swoon* It’s downright gorgeous! Currently, there are fourteen (yes, 14!) colors to choose from, allowing you to mix and match collars and leashes to your heart’s desire!
Dog + Bone’s mission really sums up what they’re all about, though (as well as everything we love about them): Dog Gear For Life™ Their gear is built to last using the highest quality materials, with sustainability considered in everything they do from their repair program to their packaging, all while supporting rescue organizations through fundraising and discounts for 501(c)(3) non-profits. It’s a rad company making rad gear and giving back while they’re at it — what’s not to love?
