Don’t you love it when designers recreate an everyday item and inject it with their own style and taste? It makes you realize that designs don’t need to be new to be interesting. Sometimes, a little refresh is all that’s needed. That’s why architect Paul Owen and Isabelle Slater of Owen Architecture’s new products are so appealing.

Designed around the idea of creating simple luxuries, Owen and Slater redesigned a small range of items to assist perpetual daily habits and patterns.

From Paul Owen:

These objects are about old fashioned practicalities and the luxury of things made by hand.

The usual plastic comb is now an elegant Brass Comb that comes with a natural cowhide leather pouch with waxed linen thread.

Instead of living haphazardly in your kitchen drawer, your knives can now rest inside this leather Knife Roll that will only get better with age.

The common household stool gets a new look with the Aalto Stool Cover, which comes in natural cowhide leather or thick grey felt.

From Isabelle Slater:

Stitching patterns, techniques and material choices have together created a detailed yet humble aesthetic.
