JOIN Design Seattle’s next event will be DESIGN SHOPPE, a pop up shop and silent auction on Saturday November 28 from 7-11pm at Vermillion Art + Wine in Seattle. The one night event, open in time for the 2009 holiday shopping season, will feature design objects by artists and independent designers from the Pacific Northwest and auction items donated by local design retailers and designers.
Most of the proceeds will be donated to Nest Seattle, a national nonprofit organization that provides microfinance loans and mentoring to female artists and artisans around the world. Nest works to instill pride of ownership, preserves ancient artistic traditions and successfully moves women from poverty to self-sufficiency.
Here are a few of the items that will be available (Greg Bethel’s Sigg Bottle Cap pictured above):
Chikabird’s cardcases and notebook covers
Ladies & Gentlemen Studio’s Chalk It To Me chalkboard-coated figurines

Admittedly, it took me a second to realize that the Buddha figurine was indeed holding a piece of chalk. Anyone else? Or am I the only dirty minded fool here?

I thought so, too. That does not look like chalk.
Can anyone imagine Jesus holding it?
