I think the idea of having an eco-friendly mattress is fantastic, and San Francisco-based Keetsa Mattress is quickly becoming one of the better known mattress providers whose focus is on sustainability, recyclability and the overall health aspect of mattresses by providing a low cost alternative. They’ve just opened a new store in Soho NYC, and I love the way that the mattresses are presented in their well-designed showroom.
I know nothing about mattresses except that they’re expensive bacteria traps. It would be nice to own an eco-friendly mattress that acts just like a regular one. Keetsa’s products try to keep the prices similar to regular mattresses except use natural and recycled materials. Through innovation in foam manufacturing they give consumers a more eco-friendly and healthy alternative to traditional foam. Fear not — Keetsa mattresses also comply with national fire regulations, but without having to resort to harmful chemicals or pesticides.
They even thought about the shipping process! A new Keetsa mattress ships in less than a third of the space that a traditional mattress consumes. This decreases the carbon foot print dependency on traditional petroleum-based transportation methods and eliminates the need for special delivery trucks. This also helps account for Keetsa’s lower retail price, which is anywhere from half to a third of traditional mattresses…and you thought eco-friendly automatically meant expensive!
Their store is just as green as their products. Ninety-percent of the materials used is either recycled, reclaimed or restructured to minimize the waste attributed to opening new locations.

Nice beds. We spend 1/3 of our lives in bed. We should really invest in a good one and those Keetsa beds and mattress look very nice.

Is there a Keetsa Showroom in every city?

Keetsa is made in China. Most people don’t know that. How can a bed shipped from China, made with petroleum foam, be eco friendly?
