Opened in April, 2015, The LARK is a new, downtown hotel that welcomes guests who arrive in Bozeman, Montana for adventure seeking. Originally built in the 1960s, the property was overhauled by more than 200 locals who banded together to “reimagine, recycle, and renovate” the hotel into what you see today. For this month’s Destination Design, we head to big sky country to see this modern, open-air design hub.
The hotel houses 38 rooms on the property, each one is one-of-a-kind and unique, just like its Bozeman location. The hotel feels like an upscale, modern motel with outdoor access to the rooms. Out front, there’s a fire pit and terrace that guests can congregate around while enjoying the views.
As the city has become a hub of arts and culture, as well as a destination for outdoor activities, they wanted to offer a place to stay that reflects that.
Instead of typical hotel hallways, this open hotel has spacious walkways that encourage guests to linger.
While most hotels are known for their bad art, this one is not! It starts in the lobby, which features a mix of vintage and modern furnishings, as well as custom artwork.
Sukha Worob’s four-color dot piece hangs in the lobby.
The hotel partnered with ten local artists to give each room its own look and regional feel. They have a range of room types to accommodate just about any guest and while each one is different, they all have a cohesive and modern look that refrains from being stuffy and overdone.
And don’t worry, you won’t starve. They have a food truck that lives outside called Victory Taco that makes handcrafted tacos for you to chomp down on.
