Luxury Hound

Architect Mirren Fischer founded her Scotland-based company, Luxury Hound, back in 2008. Mirren set out to create a dog boutique where “discerning dogs and the companions who love them can find delightfully designed dog collars, luxurious leads, and other sophisticated doggy products — all made with pride in Scotland.” Looking through Luxury Hound’s beautiful website, I would say Mirren has achieved just that!

Convinced that Scotland is “Dog’s Country,” Luxury Hound makes it a point to create jobs in Scotland and pay their workers fair and generous wages. Their tweeds come from small, family-owned mills in the borders, and their leatherwork is done at their studio in Edinburgh.

Aside from their lovely collection, Luxury Hound’s gorgeous product photography made this a stand-out company for me. Based on many conversations I have had with Mirren about product photography, it’s clear that this is an aspect of her job that she loves. I adore the attention that Mirren puts into all aspects of her business, and I can only imagine how luxurious her collars and leads are.

But perhaps my favorite aspect of Luxury Hound is their commitment to charity. Mirren and her team of photographers had so much fun snapping shots for Luxury Hound that they decided to create Hounds Of Scotland, a stunning book available here through Blurb. 100% of the profits from the sale of this book are donated to the Dogs Trust, a British charitable organization dedicated to fighting dog homelessness. Luxury Hound now offers free standard shipping to the UK and internationally so be sure to head over and check out their outstanding collection.
