I discovered MacMaster Design at the Architectural Digest Home Show.
Launched in 2009 by Alex MacMaster, MacMaster Design specializes in contemporary lighting and furniture products. Based in London, Alex runs the company with his business partner Limahl Asmall where they focus on high-end residential and commercial pieces.
Nest Coffee Table
The first design in the Nest series, this table was designed by Limahl Asmall. It consists of solid wood “sticks” that together are randomly placed and fixed to support a glass surface. A dining table is also available. Each is handmade to order.
Iris Pendant Light
The Iris pendant light is an extension of the Iris theme seen in a prior MacMaster design, the Iris Floor Lamp. The pendant light is one of three new products successfully launched at 100% Design 2010. The Iris-inspired leaves are elegantly curved at three sets of angles and distanced to produce a perfectly proportioned pendant feature, and it casts a nice, ambient light. Handmade to order in MacMaster’s London workshop, the lamp can be created in a broad range of wood veneers, with various stains and lacquers to match the client’s desire.
I really liked the way that MacMaster had the pendant lights hung at the show — at various heights in different finishes.
