Mingus & Dottie Try It: P.L.A.Y. Wobble Ball Toy

Woot, wooooot! Guess what time it is? It’s time for another installment of Mingus & Dottie Try It! This month we had fun trying out the new Wobble Ball dog enrichment toy from aptly named P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You). What did we think? Check out our review below!

[Disclosure: Mingus and Dottie were sent a Wobble Ball by P.L.A.Y. to review. All views and opinions are our own.]

The Wobble Ball is a brand-new toy from P.L.A.Y., a San Francisco company consistently kickin’ out awesome dog beds, toys, and other goodies. The Wobble Ball is about more than just fun and games, though: it’s a logic toy designed to get your pup using her noggin — all while having fun, of course. (We’ll see how the whole “noggin” thing played out at our house in just a second.)

But first: a closer look at Wobble Ball. It’s made of plastic, with a transparent cover that looks in on an oh-so-cute little doggie vegetable garden scene. Those carrots! I die. The bottom of the Wobble Ball is rounded so that, yes, it wobbles. It reminds me of Weebles. Remember those?

The lid of the Wobble Ball easily pops off so that you can place treats inside. The idea is your pup then rolls and maneuvers the Wobble Ball around so that it will wobble and dispense treats. It’s an educational game with a fun reward! I used to hate those when I was a kid, but now that I’m an adult I realize they are cool.

So, how did the Wobble Ball P.L.A.Y. out (get it?) for us? Well, I’m sorry to have to say this in front of everyone on the whole internet, but Dottie didn’t quite get it. She sniffed it a few times and then backed away for good. What can I say? She’s not earning any scholarships.

Mingus, however, got right to business and had a grand old time with the Wobble Ball. He quickly understood the point of the toy and had fun figuring out how to dispense the treats. He initially tried to bite it a few times, both to try to open it, I guess, and also to carry it across the room away from my good photography light. My suggestion would be to always supervise your pup when playing with the Wobble Ball, because while it’s made of tough polycarbonate and thermoplastic, a dog with a big enough bite could possibly crack it. (The Wobble Ball’s box also suggests supervision.) All in all, the Wobble Ball was a huge success. The design functions perfectly, and it provides stimulating fun.

Wobble Ball comes apart in 3 pieces for easy cleanup, and it’s dishwasher safe. (I ran it through a cycle, and it came out sparkling clean!) If you’re traveling with a Wobble Ball, you can store treats down in the bottom compartment. Cool!

If your dog enjoys logic toys, or if maybe you need to slow down meal times, check out the Wobble Ball. Dottie’s still curious, so maybe we’ll give her another shot at it sometime soon.
