Portland-based creative agency monogoto recently launched a colorful toy block collection called KUUM for Japanese brand Felissimo. The 202-piece set is crafted from beech tree wood and comes in 12 units (each in 2 color ways) that can be disassembled into 36 different shapes. Each of the 12 units represents a theme: soil, fire, flower, tree, mountain, sea, ice, stone, earth, moon, sun and sand. Within each unit, every piece, from L-shaped blocks to flat boards to half moons, has been carefully calculated and designed to maximize the number of combinations one can create.
KUUM aims to inspire four creative skill sets: painting, building, puzzle-solving, and story-telling. With the instructional schematics provided in the collection or with a little bit of imagination, the possibilities for creating combinations, objects and stories with this set are endless.
To purchase the KUUM collection for your kids (or, let’s be honest, yourself!), visit Felissimo. To check out some of the collection’s endless combinations, visit KUUM’s Tumblr.
