Mr Smith the Second is a multi-colored laminated beech chair by UK furniture designer Anthony Hartley.
Using both his skills as a cabinet maker and education in contemporary furniture design, Hartley makes each piece by hand from original drawings to finished product. This latest chair, named Mr. Smith the Second, is colored beech wood with a high-gloss lacquer whose color choices and slatted design only emphasize the waviness of the chair. It looks like a giant piece of candy.
Launching at Tent London 22-25 September 2011 at the Old Truman Brewery London E1, part of London Design Festival.

These chairs are superlative examples of design–they are eminently pleasing and clearly usable. The colors in particular are really emblematic of a contemporary approach to art, and in their vibrancy are similar to those we observed at MOMA’s “Talk To Me” exhibition

I’m guessing it may have a slight spring to it, which in itself would be quite pleasing. I’m curious as to know how the parts are held together – no visible joints etc.
